The Three Tracks Explained

Czechia uniquely offers three seasonal work permit durations, each tailored to a different industry need:

3-month permit — bridging gap roles, holiday-period peak demand, short tourism contracts (December ski season, summer Prague hospitality).

6-month permit — standard agricultural and tourism workers, May–October farm cycles, summer Krkonoše and Šumava national-park lodges.

9-month permit — extended agricultural + tourism roles, mountain-lodge winter+summer, vineyards in Moravia (April–December cycle).

All three permits use the same application channel (Ministry of Labour, Pardubice processing centre) but with different supporting documentation requirements.

Eligible Sectors (All Three Tracks)

Agriculture — fruit picking, vineyard work (especially South Moravia), hop harvesting (Žatec region for Pilsner Urquell), livestock, dairy.

Forestry — tree planting, brush cutting, controlled-burn assistance, sawmill labour.

Tourism & hospitality — hotel housekeeping, F&B, ski instructors (with sport qualification), mountain-lodge operations, spa attendants in Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázně.

Construction (limited) — only the Czech-Ukrainian bilateral programme for specific public infrastructure projects.

Food processing — meat processing, dairy, brewing (under PKD 10–11).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I extend my seasonal permit within Czechia?

Track-to-track upgrade is possible (3→6, 6→9) if you apply at least 30 days before expiry through the same employer. Cross-employer upgrades require fresh permit applications.

Does the Bridging Stay Card give the same rights as a regular residence card?

Almost. It authorises stay, work and Schengen mobility but doesn't qualify for family reunion. To bring family you must convert to a regular Long-term Residence Permit.

Can I switch from seasonal to the Employee Card?

Yes — file the Employee Card application 90 days before your seasonal permit expires. Continuous transition without leaving Czechia is possible.
